Obituary for Dolores Hamilton

Dolores Anna Marie Hamilton was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 5, 1925, and was adopted at the age of six months by Charles and Mathilde Hamann of Creighton, South Dakota. She grew up in western South Dakota; Cohasset, Minnesota; and Napa, California.

After graduation from Napa High School in 1943 she worked as a telephone operator until the war was over and then transferred to Minneapolis. In 1949 she met Lansin Hamilton of Crosby, Minnesota and they were married in June of 1950. They lived in Minneapolis where Paulette was born, Northome where Beverly was born, Hinckley where Douglas and Diane were born, before settling in Cloquet for several years where Robert was born. In 1967 the family moved to a farm south of Deerwood and lived there until all the kids graduated from Crosby-Ironton.
Dolores then worked at Cedarbrook and the Crosby Care Center in housekeeping and moved to Shady Walk Circle in Deerwood. From there she went home to be with her Lord, Saturday morning July 7th, 2018.

Dolores enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, playing Skipbo and Aggravation, and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and her cats. A member of Bible Baptist Church, Crosby, she was always in her favorite pew when the church doors were open until it became harder and harder for her to attend. She faithfully served the Lord, especially filling her station wagon with children for AWANA. She helped in the children’s ministries and was financial secretary for the church for many years and treasurer for Ladies Circle as well.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mathilde Hamann, brother Oscar (Dorothy) Hamann, and husband Lansin Hamilton. She is survived by her five children: Paulette (Bill) Abear of Deerwood, Beverly (Rick) Abear of Baxter, Douglas Hamilton of Deerwood, Diane (Bruce) Crosby of Deerwood, and Robert (Leslie) Hamilton of Ely; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. We will greatly miss her but are confident she is rejoicing in God’s presence as a redeemed child of God because of her personal faith in her Savior Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Service for Dolores will be held at 12:30 pm on July 22, 2018 at the Bible Baptist Church in Crosby, MN.
